Introduction
Lambton Primary School is in Lambton village, part of Washington New Town to the south west of Sunderland. Pupil numbers have fallen since the last inspection in 1997 and now stand at 227.

The differing number of pupils in each year group means there are three classes with mixed age groups. Most pupils come from the surrounding area close to the school.

On entry to school, the attainment of the pupils is higher than the local average and close to the national average.
