School Events
Active
Week
We have held a week long celebration to acknowledge our successful
Achieve Mark application. Children from Nursery to year 6 have
participated in a variety of events and sports opportunities including:
> gymnastics
> dancing
> cheerleading
> football
Some children took advantage of a taster horse riding session.
We also held an indoor athletics festival involving children from
Oxclose, Blackfell and Holley Park primary schools nearby.
We were lucky to have junior sports leaders from Oxclose school
to help co-ordinate the activities.
The teams were mixed so that children from each school were
medal winners. The cost of transport and specialist coaches has been
funded from a sponsored fun run.
World Book Day
This is a world-wide celebration of books and reading. The origins
of the day come from Catalonia where roses and books were given
as gifts to loved ones on St. George's Day. The main aim of the
day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and
reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of
their own.

Lambton Recorder Club
Lambton Primary Recorder Club meets every Wednesday lunchtime from
12.30 to 1pm. We have two groups, beginners, who have just started
playing, and intermediates, who have been playing for one and a
half years.
We learn to play different tunes and perform in assemblies, Easter
Coffee Morning and Christmas productions. We also participate in
the Sunderland Schools Music Association Recorder Playing Days.
Quotes from The Club!
Rachel: I enjoy playing musical instruments and entertaining my
family.
Alex: I enjoy playing the recorder because you can play loads of
tunes.
Sophie: I think it's fun to play the recorder because I like blowing
and entertaining my family and friends.
Jade: I like playing the recorder because you can play high and
low notes and you can listen to yourself playing tunes.
Hannah: I like playing the recorder because it's cool.
Katie: I like playing the recorder because I can learn things and
it helps you play different instruments.

Visit to Lambton Garden Centre
Reception class went on a visit to Lambton Garden Centre. In spite
of the cold wind, the Wildlife Garden had a variety of birds, some
snowdrops and even the occasional primrose.
The children were very interested in the plants, bulbs and seeds
on display and they were fascinated by the different sizes of the
wellingtons and the pots.
The helpful staff provided them with a drink and crispy cake which
ended a very enjoyable and informative visit.
